My First Deer!

Well, the year his is here! Deer hunting of 2007-08 season is underway, and I am stoked. I have been waiting for this day for a few months now, and its finally here. Hopefully, I shoot something.
This year began like any other year, sitting in our woods hunting, driving out woods, and praying that I'm going to kill a deer. However, this year I just had that feeling that I was going to get a deer, and I would be proud of myself. Well, it was just before close on Monday night that I finally started to see some deer come my way (toward my stand). I had seen bucks and does all weekend but nothing was coming close to me and my stand. Anyway, me and my friend Dan went on the opposite ends of the woods from each other and hunted. When Dan walked to his stand he kicked up three deer, and sent them right toward ME AND MY STAND. However, me being me, I was about to take a nap in my stand and wasn't paying any attention right away. Then, just before, I was going to take my nap I took one more look throughout the woods and sure enough here come three deer running by my stand. I got two shots off at the front deer. It was a really big doe (170lbs or more), but I only grazed it. So after the two shots on the first deer the front two deer took off running up the hill side out of site, while the third deer just stood there wondering what the hell is going on, and I shot it once. I ended up blowing the heart to pieces and the deer dropped dead in its tracks. That was it my first deer. I was excited even though it was what seem to be a doe. Then my dad and I went to gut the deer out and we noticed little nubs on the top of his head. It was a nub-buck, but the tines were not three inches or more so I didn't have to use my buck tag on it.
Anyways now that I got my first deer under my belt, there is only more to come. Like my old man said you got to start somewhere, and once you brake that barrier of your first deer, your smooth sailing from now on. Lets hope that this saying is true!!!

That's cool that you got your first deer, what a good feeling it is to have something to show for all the hard work you put in. Even I'm excited for you, good job buddy.

My first deer was a nub buck, too. I shot it on my uncle's land while I was sitting on the ground. It was about 15 yards away when I shot it. I have shot five deer since then, but I think this was my last year hunting for ahwile. I have lost interest in it. Good luck to you though.
