Reading is not everybody's thing. Some people are slow readers, and some are fast. Some can comprehend what they're reading, and some can't do this as well as others. When it comes down to it all, people have different reading techniques. Some people ask questions while reading, some take notes, and some can comprehend without any assistance. Reading is something that affects our everyday lives and is needed to succeed, whether taking the ACT, reading in an English class, or reading for one's job.
For me, reading has always been hard work. I didn't test very well on the reading portion on the ACT, I never liked reading books because I felt I was too slow, and, reading out loud, I felt was torture because I would stumble over big words and get embarrassed. My mom, being the English teacher she is, always came up with new ideas to try to get us to read. She would reward us with a new DVD, or game or even beanie babies for reading a book and explaining the plot to her. Her tactics surprisingly worked and got us to read for awhile. Reading to me was never on my top list of things to do in my free time, either. I always preferred hanging with friends, watching TV, or playing baseball, instead of reading.
I am the type of guy that's learning to interact with the text, because that way I feel I, can comprehend better. I like to ask questions about the readings, and I like to highlight important phrases or sentences. To me, this helps reading become easier. With my laziness and intimidation factors ahead of me, I realized that in order to get better, I need to keep reading and practicing.

Switching Schools!
Everybody has a dream of someday going to a university that they feel "fits" them. Each person's "picture perfect" university should make him/her feel comfortable meeting strangers, provide a safe work and living environment, and offer the person's ideal major. Also, the university should fit in a reasonable price range that a normal person can afford. Based off these reasons, I would say that UW Oshkosh is the university for me.
I would someday like to transfer out of UW Fond Du Lac and attend UW Oshkosh because I feel that Oshkosh will provide me with all materials I need to reach some of my life long-goals. Oshkosh is a university with great people and great professors. Oshkosh offers great educational programs. Also, the campus isn't to big in size, isn't overwhelming with the amount of students that attend there, provides a great dorming experience, and, from what I've seen, throws some great parties. I also, would like to attend Oshkosh because I would be out of the house, but still close enough to home that if I needed to see my family I could do so. I love my family and want to be as close to home as possible but still living on my own. Even though Oshkosh is somewhat expensive, what college isn't? They all are going to cost a good chunk of money. Hopefully, the money isn't that big of an issue that it affects one's major and doing something that makes one happy. Lastly, Oshkosh is where some of my BEST friends are attending and/or will be going. If I can still be with ten of my best friends from high school during the college years, it would really help in studying, meeting new people, and adjusting to this new stage of life.
I like UW Fond Du Lac, but I feel that UW Oshkosh will someday be the place for me.

Trip to Minnesota!
This summer I took a trip to Minnesota with two of my best friends, James and Weston. I also went with my twin brother Robert. We spent four days at my aunt's and uncle's house. While we were there, we spent everyday doing some fun, exciting activity.
The first day we were in Minnesota we went to the Mall Of America. We spent all day shopping at cool stores like, Zummies, Journeys, Puma, Jimmyz, Urban Outfitters, etc. Then, we went back to my Aunt Julie and Uncle Tim's house and hung out there for the rest of the day. The second day we decided to hop on a train to go downtown and see the sites. We went to some really cool places to eat like the Hard Rock Cafe and Rock Bottom. While downtown, we went to the Picasso Art Exhibit which was really cool, except for getting yelled at because we were to close the artwork. The third day, we went to Canterbury Park to bet on horse races. None of us first timers won any money, but my Uncle. Seeing that he has experience and been there before, he won about $60. That was really fun and exciting to experience. It's amazing how everyone gets so into the horses racing. People were screaming and yelling, it was hilarious. Around 11:30 we decided to go back to my uncles house because we lost all our money betting. The last day in Minnesota, we had spent most of the day at a casino. We played blackjack, and slots. That was lots of fun because it was a different casino from the one's that I've been at before this one. I won about $50 at the blackjack tables and decided to quit while I was ahead. Then, later that day, we went back to the Mall Of America to do some final shopping. After that, we went back to my uncle's and aunt's house, said our thank yous and goodbye's and headed on home.
That was one of my many trips that I took during the Summer. It was fun experiencing new things, and seeing the sites. I definitely will do this again!

My Major!
Everyone probably has had this dream where one day they'll wake up and be successful and rich, with a great career. Well, I don't know about you, but I've had this dream and one thing that makes me wonder is , am I worrying about what will make me really happy, or am I just worried about money and the stuff it can buy?
To me, a decent income is important, but my career choice will not be about the money, even though the pursuit of wealth has been a big part of the media I've been exposed to growing up.
Every MTV show seems to be about fancy "cribs", "pimped" rides and super sweet 16 birthday parties. It's hard for my generation to step away from the "bling".
No, I 'm not buying into that dream. I feel that being a grade school teacher would be a perfect fit for me because I love being around little kids, and making them laugh. I hope to have the opportunity of teaching kids in a fun way, so that they're going to want to learn. Plus, I'll be the cool teacher that all the kids and parents are going to want to have.
Being a grade school teacher would almost be following in my parents footsteps. They, too, have been teachers, but for high school. I don't know if I could handle all the comments and complaining of high school teenagers. However, looking at my parents, and their profession of teaching, makes me feel that I'm choosing something that will be meaningful and provide a comfortable lifestyle. Heck, if my parents can do it, so can I.

The Badger Game!
This past Saturday I experienced my first Wisconsin Badger game. It was nothing like I was expecting. I was expecting a normal college football game with many devoted fans watching and supporting the Badgers, just like any Packer game I had been to, but boy was I wrong.
When I arrived in Madison on Saturday I'm pretty sure I didn't see any other colors but white and red. There were so many people at this college football game. There were college students throwing lawn parties, there were families grilling out, and there were people walking about constantly, whether they were shopping for a Badger shirt or food, or even trying to find their seats. This was like no other sporting event I have ever attended. These fans were devoted to what is now the fifth ranked team in the nation. They would paint themselves, wear Badger apparel, wear crazy hats, and even whip around white towels, while screaming rude chants in tune.
Anyways, the game went very well, even though the Badgers defense was absolutely garbage. The Badgers won 37 to 34, and are still undefeated at 5 and 0. This was an amazing experience that everyone should witness for themselves. I was so impressed that it made me, for that day, want to be a student at UW Madison just so I could attend the games every weekend and be in that wild student section.
